“Fill your life with adventures, not things. Have stories to tell, not stuff to show”

Hello!
We are Ryan and Erika. We are currently full-time cruising with our two cats, aboard our sailboat SV Resande. We left  Muskegon and explored the Great Lakes. From there we headed out the Erie Canal, down the east coast, and then to the Bahamas!

We got the “travel bug” after our first international trip together in 2015. Since then we have been traveling as much as we can and growing the list of places we want to explore. We keep finding that what we really want is more time to travel. We’ve come to realize that we want something different for ourselves than your typical American dream with a big house, two cars, and two full-time jobs where we trade 5 days of work for two days off and a few weeks of vacation. So after years of saving and prepping, we have made the transition from full-time work to full-time travel!

We will continue posting about all our adventures here on the blog.  Follow us on Instagram and Facebook for more frequent updates and pictures @GerbersUnderWay

Slow Dance by David L. Weatherford

Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round?

Or listened to the rain
Slapping the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You better slow down
Don’t dance so fast.

Time is short.
The music won’t last.

Do you run through each day
On the fly?

When you ask: How are you?
Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done,
Do you lie in your bed

With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?

You’d better slow down.
Don’t dance so fast.

Time is short.
The music won’t last.

Ever told your child,
We’ll do it tomorrow?

And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die

Cause you never had time
To call and say, “Hi”?

You’d better slow down
Don’t dance so fast.

Time is short.
The music won’t last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.

When you worry and hurry through the day,
It is like an unopened gift thrown away.

Life is not a race.
Do take it slower.

Hear the music
Before the song is over.
